Huawei’s 400Gbps core router leads the next-generation optical network

Huawei remains the biggest manufacturer of the world in communication transmission networks, in despite of being locked out of the huge U.S. LTE market relentlessly. Presently, Huawei tested next generation optical networks transmitting method by using WDM technology to 400Gbps links. The requirement for more data communication and larger transmission speed in both fixed and wireless optical networks is still increasing in carriers’ network. Although faster technologies, such as LTE are started, a group of manufacturers are working to improve WDM, as the development speed of wireless network is going forward by leaps and bounds. Through a large number of individual optical fibers, WDM can send large amounts of data.
But, can you image, the experiment that led by Huawei and Exatel used only one channel to transmit communication data. It is a very ideal method in transport network. This means that the system requires only one optical transceiver for transmitting and receiving data. So this can decrease power consumption and reduce chance that things may go wrong in transport. But Huawei didn’t dedicate to use this technology in commercial products. Now, telecom carriers are improving their networks by take advantage of 100Gbps links. That increased third quarter spending on Huaweioptical networks in North America by 13.4% on year-on-year basis, followed an 11.1% in the previous quarter, according to Infonetics Research. Huawei, Ciena, and Alcatel-Lucent were the WDM market share leaders.
