Huawei MA5800 Alarms and Events Handling

FAQs of Document Use When Handling Huawei MA5800 Alarms and Events

This alarm and reference document, if used flexibly, can help you to rectify the faults quickly, thus improving maintenance efficiency and facilitating the management of alarms and events in the system.

Q1: How to enter the special CLI mode

A1: The following considers the FAN mode as an example to describe how to enter the FAN mode:
  1. Click a command in the steps.

  2. In the interface that is displayed, you can see the mode of the command. The User Guide describes how to enter this mode.

Q2: Why is the recovery alarm not displayed after the fault is rectified

A2: The following situations may occur:
  • This alarm is an ADMC alarm caused by an ADMC fault. After the ADMC fault is rectified, the system does not generate a recovery alarm. Therefore, manual operations are needed. You can run the alarm active clear command to clear the alarms that are not recovered in the system.
  • The system checks the faults periodically. The system generates a recovery alarm only after detecting that the faults are rectified.

Q3: How to search for an alarm or event in the document

A3: You can follow one of the following two methods to search for an alarm or event.
  • Search for an alarm or event according to the alarm ID or the event ID.
  • Search for an alarm or event according to the name of the alarm or event.

Burst Optical/Electrical Technology on Huawei MA5600T MA5800

TDMA is used in GPON upstream direction. An ONU transmits data only within the allocated timeslots. In the timeslots that are not allocated to it, the ONU immediately disables the transmission of its optical transceiver to prevent other ONUs from being affected. The OLT then receives the upstream data from each ONU in a burst manner based on timeslots. Therefore, both OLT and ONU optical modules must support burst receive and transmit function to ensure normal running of the GPON system. Figure 2-16 shows the burst transmit function supported by ONU optical modules, and Figure 2-17 shows the burst receive function supported by Huawei MA5600T optical modules.
Ranging can be implemented to prevent cells transmitted by different ONUs from conflicting with each other on Huawei OLT MA5800. However, the ranging accuracy is ± 1 bit and the cells transmitted by different ONUs have a protection time of several bits (not a multiple of 1 bit). If the ONU optical modules do not support the burst receive and transmit function, the transmitted signals overlap and distortion occurs.

  • The distance from each ONU to the OLT varies and therefore the optical signal attenuation varies for each ONU. As a result, the power and level of packets received by an OLT at different timeslots various.
  • If the OLT optical modules do not support the burst receive and transmit function, an error occurs when the optical signals sent by Huawei ONU/ONT with a long transmission distance and large optical attenuation are recovered on the OLT because the optical power level is less than thethreshold (only the signals with the optical power level greater than the threshold can be recovered). Dynamic threshold adjustment enables the OLT to dynamically adjust the threshold for optical power levels based on the strengths of signals received by the OLT. This ensures that all ONU signals can be recovered.

Huawei MA5800- X17 Appearance and Structure

Huawei MA5800-X17 service subrack provides 22 slots, while Huawei MA5600T has 16 service solt and has a fan tray at the top. The subrack is installed in the cabinet through the mounting brackets.

ESD Jack
The ESD jack of Huawei MA5800-X17 subrack is on the left of the fan tray, which is used to
connect the ESD wrist strap to prevent device damage caused by electrostatic discharge.

Connect the ground cables properly to guarantee protection against lightening and
interference for the MA5800-X17 subrack. When a Huawei cabinet is installed, the service
subrack is grounded through mounting ears and therefore no separate ground cables are
required. When a third-party cabinet is installed, the separate ground cable needs to be
connected to the service subrack and ground point on the cabinet.

The MA5800-X17 subrack has 2 ground points. One is on the side panel and the other is at
the bottom of the right mounting ear of the subrack.
The power input end of the MA5800-X17 subrack has a noise filter. The center ground of the
noise filter connects to the subrack, called the subrack ground, that is, the protection ground.

Ground the subrack securely so that the influence electricity, leakage electricity can flow to
the ground, improving the protection against electromagnetic interference.
Use a ground cable to connect the ground point of the subrack to the ground bar of the
telecommunications room or to the ground directly. It is recommended that the grounding
resistance of the telecommunications room should be less than 10 ohms. Refer to the local
standards to ground the subrack.
